The Long Goodbye
Fan's favourite Mark Stallard returned to the club on loan during the 2004-5 season to assist in the rescue of the Pies after a turbulent start to the campaign. Whilst his form in front of goal was nothing like as prolific as when he'd been a permanent fixture up front, he continued to be popular with supporters because of his high work rate in an indifferent team. His final game in a County shirt came at Cambridge Utd on the last day of the season but his farewell bow at Meadow Lane was the week before with the home side taking on Bury. After the match Stallard stayed on the pitch until every last fan who wanted a picture or an autograph had got one, thus cementing his reputation in the minds of the County faithful forever.
Just one more then chaps. I'm missing the champers...
its not a blank cheque, honest Mr Stallard....ha ha..you've got to laugh haven't you
The name on The County's finest shirt......
Oh that tickles that does....
I'm just dripping a bit on this one....you don't mind a bit of honest sweat do you ?
You know you've been here too long when your last photo is with the groundsman
