The highlight of the Pies' indifferent season was, beyond doubt, the two games against the world's potentially richest club, Manchester City. From a commerical point of view, it meant two great gates and some TV money. It also offered a chance of extra sponsorship and that meant fresh kit ! Yippee ! Bet 365 were installed as shirt sponsors for the day and the space on the back was left blank. Unfortunately, no one got a sniff at the shirts afterwards (probably a good thing really, as the lads did a lot of running that day). In true cup style, there was a big swop between players of both sides at the end of the game. To date, only occasional kits have appeared subsequently and presumably, that's the way it will stay. Westcarr's popped up on Ebay and went for over £300. That gives you an idea of the popularity of this issue !
Following the draw at Meadow Lane on 30th January 2011, Notts visited Eastlands for the replay. Without the benefit of the occasional bobble on the slightly- worn home pitch, the underdogs were well beaten against a full-strength opposition. However, as with the first match, the whole thing was televised with Vision Express retaining their role as shirt sponsors for the day on the front of the Brazillian-style away kit. To make the shirt even more unique, an embroided logo was added, just below the team badge. The back remained the same (with 3663 as sponsors). Unfortunately, these lovely momentoes of the day were all nabbed by the Premiership side in return for their own rags. Huh ! Expect the odd one to crop up on Ebay. Darby's already has and made more than Westcarr's home shirt.
This embroidery is exclusive to matchworn shirts from the game so if it crops up for sale, it's definately genuine !
This replica has exactly the same back as the matchworn players shirts and the Man City replay embroided ones. Unlike the home game, the shirt sponsors on the back were retained.
This mock-up gives a close-up view of the Man City home game shirt (sans sponsor). Note that neither home nor away had epaulettes - obviously as they were not league matches.
