Season 2010-11 : The Kits
The home shirt for the 2010-11 was a gift for the fans - a traditional black and white even stripe and a rounded collar. The sponsor came through Ray Trew's business interests but applied only to the home kit. The epaulettes were the gold champions version - only Notts and League 1 winners Norwich were entitled to wear them. On the back, for the first time, a sponsor's logo appeared above the players name - although on the home shirt that was the same company as the front.
As regards matchworn shirts, there were less going walkies in the season as there was less to celebrate and no reason to chuck them into the crowd. Most of the squad were issued with two, one going to their individual sponsor and one being kept by the player at the end of the campaign. None appeared for general sale to fans although oddments have cropped up as raffle prizes or where a player left before the campaign finished. There was no discernable difference this year between replicas and match shirts so beware internet buying where there isn't a history of provenance.
This season provided a rare opportunity for Notts fans to sport the gold epaulettes of division winners. Both home and away match issues had these on and they were freely available to buy so many replicas could also have them. See the epaulettes page for a picture of the normal ones for this season.
For the first time, Notts shirts had a sponsor above the players name
Notts' opposition would have continued sport with their away sponsors, especially considering the Pies' lack of shooting prowess. However, Vision Express was just one of two names on the shirt and fans generally loved the Brazillian style change kit. As with the homes, there is no difference between replica and matchworn so beware of imitiations. There was little chance to buy them legitimately so any around will have come, if they are genuine, from players or their sponsors.
This replica of Liam Chilvers shirt comes complete with gold epaulettes and shows how difficult it is to distinquish between matchworn and replicas this season..
One Hundred Years at Meadow Lane
During 2010, Notts commemorated the first of two important milestones with the celebration of the first century at Meadow Lane. The one hundred years was marked by the production of a great range of memorabilia and an all-white, third kit. This latter was worn for only one game - a home match against Yeovil but an issue of replica shirts was very popular and sold well. For some reason, Pies fans always love white shirts ! The first hundred sold were all numbered - with number one raffled off by the club. Again, collectors were denied the chance to see the players actual issue - they were all grabbed by the squad themselves but should prove pretty marketable if they ever crop up for sale in the future. Apart from the limited edition numbering on the reps, the matchworns will be identical to the fans issue but its interesting to note that the club didn't put epaulettes on them.
This printing,on the hem at the front of the first one hundred replicas, is the only distinquishing feature between them and the matchworn.
This picture shows a bit more of the detail on the commemorative badge of the 100th anniversary third kit. Nike's association with the club ended this season but they went out on a high with this shirt !
